Let's Art Party

About 6 weeks ago, my brother Jimmy called me and told me to block off this one Saturday in November. He didn't tell me why or what the heck it was blocked for. He just said not to plan anything that night and I would be doing something with his girlfriend, Amy. Amy celebrated her birthday about 2 weeks ago. One of the birthday presents my brother planned for her was to make a reservation for her and I to go to Let's Art in Fort Worth. I have always wanted to go to one of these and I guess he remembered a conversation where she had told him the same.

My brother finally told me the secret about 2 days before we were scheduled to go. I picked up Amy who still didn't know the plan. I was just supposed to drive us there and she would be surprised when we pulled up. Well, we had been at a friends daughter's 3rd birthday party right before I was supposed to pick up Amy. I forgot to look up directions on where the place was. I just knew the street. Ha. Long story short, I finally had to get Amy to pull up directions on her phone to get us there. When she put the address in her GPS it told her where we were going. Oh well. She was still surprised and excited when she saw it on her phone. :)

We had SO much fun that night!! There were actually about 35 or so people in our class. It was packed. That night we did a Fort Worth version of 'Starry Night'. It's a painting class with a different painting each night. The instructors tell you everything to do, colors to use, how to mix, etc. I wasn't sure how we were supposed to paint something so well. But, I was glad to see when we sat at our spots, there was already a slight pencil outline of what to do. :) But...turns out, we didn't really follow that either. With our step-by-step instructions it was pretty easy. Here are some of the pictures from our night.

This was the before pictures. You can't see the light pencil outline at all, ha.

This was the sample picture that would be similar to our finished product!

Making some progress with our pictures!

Just about done!

Putting the final touches on our masterpieces! Ha. :)

SUCH a fun night! Here we are with our finished products! The first picture is from their Facebook page. Our instructor took a group shot of everyone. Amy and I are on the back row against the window. Ha.

I would totally do this again. It was so much fun! They have a few locations around the Metroplex. It would be fun for a date night (except then you bring home 2 of the same paintings). :) And, I don't think this would be my hubby's cup of tea. Especially when he found out there were only about 3 guys in the entire group of women. But, definitely a fun girls night out. Or, something I may want to do with my Mom and sister sometime! :) Also, now the painting is at our house and everytime Jacob sees it he gets so excited and says "Mommy! You painted that pretty picture!!" Ugh, so sweet! :)

Thanks for a fun night out, Jimmy. Amy and I had a blast!

Your painting turned out great! About the airplanes. There's actually an airport park. I think it's called Alliance Park. Just take 121 N, exit Texan Trail & turn right. It will run you right into it.

That's awesome. I did the same thing with my sister in Colorado. The person who led it was telling us that sometimes she does a class for couples where the two pictures go together but aren't the same. Does that make sense? Like they're meant to hang next to each other. Probably not my hub's cup of tea either, but you never know. It could be a blast! :)
